Jasen Gundersen, MD
- President, Hospitalist Services and Post-Acute Care
As a proven leader, Dr. Jasen Gundersen brings a wealth knowledge and skills to the company as president of TeamHealth’s Acute Care Services. Dr. Gundersen works closely with hospital clients to ensure healthy business relationships and also leads all aspects of the group’s business, including:
- financial solvency and revenue generation
- physician relations
- organizational development
- provider compensation plans
Before bringing his talents to TeamHealth, Dr. Gundersen served as the inpatient clinical services chief and division chief of hospital medicine at UMass Memorial Medical Center, where he was a clinical associate professor of medicine, family medicine and community health. Dr. Gundersen has served in other roles, including positions on the Board of Trustees for UMass – Clinton Hospital and vice president of medical affairs and chief medical officer for Marlborough Hospital. A key member of strategic planning teams on a national level, Dr. Gundersen served as chair of the National Task Force on Family Medicine Hospitalists on behalf of the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM) and as a national resource for Family Medicine physicians interested in working as hospitalists. He also served as a facilitator for special interest forums at a variety of national meetings.
Dr. Gundersen earned his medical degree at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, performed his residency in family medicine at UMass Memorial Medical Center and completed the Physician Masters of Business Administration program at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
