When Nashville General Hospital sought improved patient experience scores, they engaged their existing partner for emergency and hospitalist coverage. TeamHealth introduced the proprietary patient experience program, APEX, and embarked on a two-year improvement project that ultimately enhanced patient satisfaction and improved performance metrics.
Nashville General Hospital is a long-standing and vital private healthcare facility for the greater Nashville area. In recent years, the facility sought improved performance in various areas, including patient satisfaction. Patient experience has become an increasingly important benchmark for healthcare facilities. A strong correlation exists between patient experience and clinical outcomes – particularly around care follow-up and readmissions – and is a factor in many impending regulatory efforts, such as value-based care. To strengthen inpatient satisfaction scores and outcomes, Nashville General sought support from TeamHealth, who partnered with the facility for hospitalist coverage beginning in 2016. Working proactively and collaboratively, TeamHealth and Nashville General began a patient experience revitalization effort in 2021.
