TeamHealth CEO Leif Murphy recognized by Modern Healthcare as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare

TeamHealth today announced that Leif Murphy, CEO, has been recognized by Modern Healthcare as one of this year’s 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare. The complete ranking is featured in this week’s issue of Modern Healthcare.

The recognition program acknowledges and honors individuals in the healthcare industry who are deemed by their peers and an expert panel to be the most influential in terms of demonstrating leadership and impact. This year, more than ever, Murphy has demonstrated both organizational and industry-level influence by successfully leading TeamHealth to a victory in the continued fight for patients’ rights and protections against surprise medical billing legislation, and through his ongoing efforts to ensure fair and adequate compensation for frontline workers.

Under Murphy’s leadership, TeamHealth was able to stand alongside our more than 15,000 affiliated healthcare professionals and advanced practice clinicians in the recent victory in the trial against insurance giant UnitedHealthcare. The ruling and punitive damages decided upon earlier this month set a critical precedent that we will not tolerate large health insurers underpaying frontline doctors for live-saving care. Murphy is committed to ensuring that TeamHealth clinicians are paid fairly for the care they provide.

In the earliest days of the COVID-19 pandemic under Murphy’s direction and leadership, TeamHealth commissioned an Emerging Infectious Disease Task Force (EIDT) made up of the organization’s best clinical leaders. Not only are the research and best practices developed by the EIDT shared across TeamHealth, but they continue to be made available to any healthcare organization that can benefit from the information. Internally, in the midst of continued healthcare industry challenges, Murphy reinforces TeamHealth’s commitment to clinicians while prioritizing the delivery of high-quality patient care.

“The year was dominated with vaccines that promised a return to normal. But that treatment faced ire and rejection from some, creating divisions in communities and even the healthcare workforce,” said Modern Healthcare editor Aurora Aguilar. “Last year’s complexity is reflected in our 2021 Most Influential People in Healthcare honorees.”

Congratulations to those who have been designated with this high honor.
