With over 33 years of healthcare experience, Michael brings a wealth of strategic growth, operational and financial knowledge to TeamHealth. He oversees national field operations for all service lines, including:
- Emergency Medicine
- Anesthesiology
- Hospitalist Services, including subspecialties Obstetrics and Gynecology, General Surgery and Orthopedic Surgery
- Post-Acute Care
- Behavioral Health
- Ambulatory Care
- Spectrum Healthcare Resources, focusing on staffing for governmental healthcare facilities
- D&Y, concentrating on locum tenens and permanent placement
- AccessNurse, a provider of off-hours medical call services
- VirtualCare
In addition to his responsibilities for all national field operations, he also has responsibility for the national support center functions of strategic accounts management, clinical operations and performance improvement, clinical analytics, and leadership development and education.
Before taking his role with TeamHealth, Michael served as founder and managing director of Sunergeo Health Partners, LLC, where he served in a number of board leadership and operating partner roles with several leading private equity firms. He formerly served as president and CEO of RCCH Healthcare Partners; vice chairman, president and CEO of Capella Healthcare; and senior vice president and COO of Capella Healthcare. Additionally, Michael served in various senior executive operations and finance leadership roles for LifePoint Health, Province Healthcare Company and Hospital Corporation of America.
Michael earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Kentucky, a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a doctoral degree in health services administration from the University of Alabama – Birmingham School of Health Professions. He is also a Certified Public Accountant (inactive).
