Darren Swenson, MD, MSHQSM, CPE, president of TeamHealth Post-Acute Care, is a highly accomplished physician executive, healthcare entrepreneur and clinical educator who specializes in post-acute care delivery, value-based care programs and graduate medical education program development.

As president of Post-Acute Care, Dr. Swenson leads the development, execution, oversight, and management of TeamHealth’s Post-Acute Care business unit. He is responsible for developing, implementing, and advancing TeamHealth’s strategy to invest and expand the Post-Acute Care service line opportunities while identifying and enhancing health outcomes in innovative ways.

He founded Swenson Healthcare in 2017 and US Post Acute Care in 2019, and he served as CEO for both market-leading provider and services organizations providing post-acute, chronic care and value-based care programs to skilled nursing facilities throughout the Pacific Northwest.

He then joined TeamHealth as a system medical director with Post-Acute Care in Tacoma, Washington, where he led the large regional clinical practice that he originally founded, and that TeamHealth acquired in November 2021. As system medical director, Dr. Swenson also led the development of TeamHealth’s Chronic Care Management program.

Prior to 2017, he held several physician executive leadership positions with HCA Healthcare in Las Vegas, where he served as division vice president of graduate medical education, as well as facility chief medical officer with HCA. From 2008 to 2014, he served as regional medical director for IPC Healthcare in the Las Vegas market.

He earned his undergraduate education in pre-medical studies at Arizona State University. He completed his medical degree at Ross University School of Medicine and his internal medicine residency at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia. Dr. Swenson completed a Master of Science degree in healthcare quality and safety management at Thomas Jefferson University, and he is a Certified Physician Executive.
