2019 National Medical Leadership Conference

We are heading to Dallas this year for our 2019 National Medical Leadership Conference on April 15-18. During the conference, we will hear from top TeamHealth and industry leaders and proudly celebrate our 40th anniversary as a leading physician services company.

TeamHealth Updates

At the conference, TeamHealth President and CEO Leif Murphy will share an important company update for the year ahead. Michael Wiechart, executive vice president and chief operating officer, will also take the stage as we honor the Dr. Gar LaSalle, TeamHealth Medical Directors of the Year and Advanced Practice Clinician of the Year. Dr. Lynn Massingale, TeamHealth founder and chairman, will provide an insightful update about the healthcare industry, and Dan Collard, executive vice president and chief growth officer, will moderate a panel on how to live the trust equation as a leader as he interviews two hospital executive guest speakers. We will also hear from several TeamHealth physicians, clinicians and operational leaders on experiences in local communities in 2018 and how our teams came together to deliver excellent patient care and provide operational expertise to partners. Last but certainly not least, we also have a fun evening of entertainment planned at the AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys.

Keynote Speakers

During the conference, we will hear from two decorated military leaders.

Jake Wood is the co-founder and CEO of Team Rubicon, a nonprofit organization that recruits, trains and deploys military veterans to disaster zones around the world and within the United States. Since 2010, Team Rubicon has scaled to 80,000 volunteers and deployed teams to some of the worst catastrophes of the century.

As a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, Wood deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan as a Scout Sniper and earned the Navy-Marine Commendation Medal. A leading veterans’ advocate, Wood has briefed President Obama on veterans’ issues, met with former Presidents Bush and Clinton on veteran transition and disaster response and testified before a Senate committee to improve behavioralhealthcare services for returning veterans. In 2014, Crown Publishing published Wood’s book, “Take Command: Lessons in Leadership.”

General Stan McChrystal is a one-of-a-kind commander with a remarkable record of achievement and is widely praised for creating a revolution in warfare that fused intelligence and operations. He is also known for developing and implementing the counter-insurgency strategy in Afghanistan and for creating a comprehensive counter-terrorism organization that revolutionized the way military agencies interact and operate.

A four-star general, he is the former commander of U.S. and international forces in Afghanistan and the former leader of Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), which oversees the military’s most sensitive forces. His leadership of JSOC is credited with the 2003 capture of Saddam Hussein and the 2006 location and killing of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq. He is also the author of the best-selling leadership books, “My Share of the Task: A Memoir and Team of Teams: New Rules of Engagement for a Complex World.”

Women in Leadership Symposium

TeamHealth’s Women in Leadership group is aimed at the recruitment, development and retention of female leaders at TeamHealth. Started in 2016, the group contains more than 600 members, connecting women through social media and learning events. The group is excited to sponsor the Women in Leadership Symposium at the national conference this year.

Attendees of the National Medical Leadership Conference are invited to join a session of networking, panel discussions and keynote speech by Carla Harris, Vice Chairman, Wealth Management, Managing Director and Senior Client Advisor at Morgan Stanley.

Carla is responsible for increasing client connectivity and penetration to enhance revenue generation across the Morgan Stanley. She formerly headed the Emerging Manager Platform, the equity capital markets effort for the consumer and retail industries and was responsible for Equity Private Placements. Ms. Harris has extensive industry experiences in the technology, media, retail, telecommunications, transportation, industrial, and healthcare sectors. In August 2013, Carla Harris was appointed by President Barack Obama to chair the National Women’s Business Council.

During the symposium, we will also present our annual Women in Leadership Award. The award is designed to recognize the contributions of a female leader within TeamHealth. The Women in Leadership Award is presented for demonstration of exemplary leadership abilities that enable others to succeed in the healthcare field. Leadership of noteworthy contributions to the healthcare field on a single project over several years or during a career; commitment to professional growth, and service as a role model or mentor that shows dedication to the advancement of women in healthcare.

We look forward to seeing all of you at #NMLC19!
