The Advanced Practice Clinician Council (APCC) was created to ensure these valued team members are represented, supported, and empowered at every level. Following the APCC’s recent annual meeting, we’re proud to introduce Chris Waybright as the new Council Chair. A respected clinical leader with a focus on elevating APC voices, Chris will lead the council as it continues to strengthen the voice and impact of APCs across TeamHealth.
Meet the new council chair
Hi! My name is Chris Waybright, and I am honored to serve as the Chair of the APCC. As a nurse practitioner and passionate advocate for APCs, I am proud to lead this council as we continue to build on a strong foundation of representation, advocacy, and progress for all APCs within TeamHealth.
What is the history and mission of the Advanced Practice Clinician Council (APCC)?
Formed in 2012, under the direction of TeamHealth Co-Founder and President of Practice Development, Dr. Randal Dabbs, the APCC has played a vital role in ensuring that APCs are fully integrated into the clinical, operational, and strategic fabric of TeamHealth. From its inception, the council has remained steadfast in its mission to guide resource development, influence policy and practice, and elevate the voice of APCs throughout the enterprise. The APCC has spearheaded many initiatives that have differentiated TeamHealth as a destination of choice for APCs nationally.
What are the APCC’s goals and focus areas for the coming year?
This year, we will focus on strengthening collaboration with strategic internal stakeholders to expand the reach and impact of APCs in new and innovative ways. We aim to create clearer pathways for practice integration, both within TeamHealth and through external partnerships, address staffing needs, and provide sustainable solutions for future growth. These efforts will help optimize our clinical teams, improve patient outcomes, and further support our clinical mission.
How does TeamHealth support and value its advanced practice clinicians?
I am proud of the inclusive and collaborative culture TeamHealth has cultivated—one that values the expertise, compassion, and leadership that APCs bring to their patients, communities, and teams. Our APCs are invaluable team members and are represented at multiple levels of the organization. TeamHealth has put strategic focus on resource development to further support APC practice, including post-graduate fellowship programs, advanced procedural skills programs, and orientation programs, to name a few. Although there is always work to do, these resources and professional growth pathways are a meaningful reflection of the value TeamHealth sees in APCs.
What are you looking forward to for the council this year?
As Chair, I am committed to ensuring our culture continues to reflect the incredible contributions of every APC across the organization. The APCs at TeamHealth are making meaningful impacts on the lives of patients, the communities they live in, and the next generation of clinicians. These achievements could not be accomplished without a culture of support for APCs and their practice. I look forward to leading innovative programs and communication that set TeamHealth apart as the premier organization for APCs to spend their careers.
