Emergency Medicine Advanced Practice Clinician in Shelbyville, Kentucky

Shelbyville Hospital, managed by TeamHealth, is a trusted healthcare institution committed to delivering outstanding medical services to the Louisville, Kentucky, community. Our emergency department (ED) is a vital part of our facility, providing emergency care with excellence and compassion. We are seeking an experienced nurse practitioner (NP) or physician assistant (PA) to join our dedicated team.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients on arrival at the emergency department
  • Diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions, including trauma, acute illnesses, and injuries
  • Create and execute treatment plans, including ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests
  • Administer medications, perform procedures, and provide necessary interventions
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team for coordinated patient care
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing clear explanations of diagnoses and treatment plans
  • Maintain up-to-date electronic medical records (EMRs) for all patient interactions
  • Adhere to evidence-based guidelines and quality standards
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the emergency department
  • Stay updated on advancements in emergency medicine through ongoing education and training
  • Assist in disaster and emergency response efforts as required
  • Familiarize yourself with local and regional emergency response protocols

Qualifications:

  • Active nurse practitioner or physician assistant license in Kentucky
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
  • Prior experience in an emergency department or urgent care setting is advantageous
  • Proficient clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and handle emergent situations effectively
  • Dedication to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care
