At TeamHealth, we are proud to stand alongside the EMS professionals and clinicians who serve patients at some of the most critical moments in their lives. EMS Week provides an important opportunity to recognize not only the lifesaving work happening in the field, but also the collaboration and coordination that ensure patients receive seamless care from first contact through the emergency department and beyond.

History of EMS Week

EMS Week was established in 1974 by President Gerald Ford to recognize the essential role of emergency medical services professionals. Today, it serves as a national moment to honor the dedication, skill, and coordination required to deliver care in the field and ensure a strong continuum into the emergency department. Overview of the TeamHealth EMS Leaders Committee

In addition to celebrating our clinicians, we’re proud of the continued momentum led by the TeamHealth EMS Leaders Committee. Following a strong 2025, the committee is building on that progress in 2026 with clear goals: expanding clinician recruitment, increasing recognition of EMS excellence, and developing meaningful resources to support our Facility Medical Directors (FMDs).

We are actively connecting with EMS clinicians across the country to grow engagement and strengthen our network of leaders. An EMS Recognition program will be piloted this summer, with the goal of a broader rollout later in 2026. At the same time, practical, high-yield resources are being developed with input from emergency departments across our system to help FMDs enhance and strengthen their relationships with EMS partners.

Note of Gratitude

As Chair of the EMS Leaders Committee, Dr. Adam Darnobid, Chief of Emergency Medicine at Saint Vincent Hospital and a TeamHealth Facility Medical Director, offers this message of gratitude in recognition of EMS Week:

During EMS Week 2026, I want to express our sincere gratitude to our EMS partners for their unwavering commitment and collaboration and to take a moment to recognize and thank our TeamHealth clinicians for their extraordinary dedication and impact. Every day, millions of patients are brought to emergency departments we serve, where our clinicians and clinical leaders provide exceptional care at some of the most critical moments in patients’ lives. What is often unseen is the tremendous amount of preparation, coordination, and leadership shared between our teams and EMS partners in every encounter—long before a patient reaches the ED. The tireless work of TeamHealth clinicians and EMS professionals across the country makes a meaningful difference for millions of patients each year. We are deeply grateful for all that you do.

Our Ongoing Commitment

As we recognize EMS Week, we are reminded that exceptional care doesn’t happen in isolation, it’s the result of strong partnerships, shared expertise, and a commitment to showing up when it matters most. At TeamHealth, we remain dedicated to supporting our clinicians, strengthening our collaboration with EMS partners, and continuing to deliver exceptional care during life’s pivotal moments.
