The Community
Located just three hours from Yellowstone National Park and five hours from Glacier National Park, Butte has so many great things to see and do. At Fairmont Hot Springs Resort, recreation just begins with the hot springs pools and waterslide. At Fairmont they offer lots of scenic and challenging fun with an 18-hole, par 72 golf course; tennis courts; a playground for the kids; a wildlife zoo; lawn games; volleyball; basketball; and more. The Gold Rush Casino provides action-packed fun. Butte offers more than 40 houses of worship, representing a wide variety of faiths and denominations. This summer, the hometown of Evel Knievel will host Evel Knievel Days, and blue-ribbon trout fishing is found on the Big Hole River and smaller streams throughout southwest Montana. Winter enthusiasts find snowmobiling, cross-country skiing trails, as well as downhill skiing. Columbia Gardens delights families with the largest roller coaster in the country, carousels, airplane swings, and amusements such as horse racing. Butte has a diverse economic base directed by energy research, education, and tourism.
