Urge your legislators to co-sponsor S.468 and H.R. 1188, the "Access to Emergency Medical Services Act"
Economic Crisis Increases Burden on Nation's Emergency
Medical Care System
Urge your legislators to co-sponsor the "Access to Emergency Medical Services Act" to help support and preserve access to critical emergency care.
It is imperative that Congress address the escalating crisis in our nation’s emergency departments. H.R.1188/S.468, the “Access to Emergency Medical Services Act,” calls for the creation of a national bipartisan commission to examine factors that affect the delivery of care in emergency departments, and authorizes a 10% increase in Medicare payments for emergency department physician services to help defray the costs necessary to maintain the expanding and fragile ‘safety net’ system.
Your support is needed to help improve access to emergency medical services!
Emergency departments are the health care ‘safety net’ for everyone, insured and uninsured alike, and their role in America’s health care system has never been more critical. Our nation’s economic turmoil and mounting job losses can be seen every day in emergency departments across the country, as the newly uninsured, in increasing numbers, are turning for care.
Please take action today by contacting your U.S. Representatives to urge their co-sponsorship and support of this legislation to address the crisis in emergency medical care.
