TeamHealth Serves as Coalition Partner for
AMAfluhelp.org
KNOXVILLE, Tenn., November 17, 2009 –TeamHealth is proud to serve as a coalition partner with the American Medical Association (AMA) on its new flu-assessment web site. AMAfluhelp.org is the nation’s first comprehensive patient flu health-assessment web site, designed to help patients determine the severity of their flu symptoms and allow them to share their information with their physician.
AMAfluhelp.org is a free and secure interactive web solution that walks patients through a series of questions to determine the severity of their flu symptoms based on the latest Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines. The site also provides a set of online tools designed by physicians for physicians to monitor their patients’ symptoms, facilitate care and treatment decisions, and efficiently manage their practice patient flow.
AMAfluhelp.org was developed with support from members of the Flu Information and Care System (FICS)—a coalition of organizations dedicated to healthcare quality and the deployment of this free connected health platform. TeamHealth is a proud coalition partner in this endeavor, providing several of its contracted emergency departments as test sites for the product.
“The surge in emergency department patient volumes is anticipated to continue until early spring 2010 and then reemerge as the H1N1 Novel Influenza makes its next global swing by late summer 2010,” says Gar LaSalle, M.D., FACEP, chief medical officer, TeamHealth. “We hope that this program will help to minimize the negative impact of the pandemic on our already overwhelmed emergency departments. Colorado is the first state to employ the program statewide. If effective, the site will be adopted by many other communities. TeamHealth is proud to be at the forefront of this pioneering effort.”
